Giles Arts Council Photography Contest (March 31 deadline)

The Giles Arts Council is pleased to sponsor a photography contest. Last year we sponsored a Pet Photography Contest for children, this year's contest is for adults, ages 17 through 97!

The GAC 2018 contest will be open to all levels of photographers and will include a three
categories: iPhone/Mobile, Color and Monochrome. There are three divisions for entries as well: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The entrants will choose their level (division).

The categories, explained in further detail:
iPhone/Mobile: A photograph taken with any phone or mobile device, such as a cell phone or tablet. The mobile devices primary use should not be as a camera.

Drone photography would be considered a "camera" and should be entered inone of the other two categories (Color or Monochrome). The subject matter may be anything and can be presented as a color or monochrome image.

Color: A photograph with more than one color tone, two tone and full color range photos fall into this category. The subject matter is wide open.

Monochrome: Not necessarily "black and white", the photograph must be based on a single color tone, but the single color could be any color, such
as sepia, black (traditional), blue, red, brown, etc.

All Divisions and Categories must adhere to the following rules:
- Photograph taken solely by entrant
- Images must have been taken in the previous twelve months prior to the contest entry date
- Images must be in good taste and "family friendly"
- Submissions must be in "JPG" format and be at least 2 megapixels in size.
- Submissions must be emailed to and received prior to midnight March 31
- Participants may enter one photograph per category

GAC reserves the right to use the photograph for promotional purposes

Image Format and Sizes: Images MUST be sent as JPG (jpeg), recommended size is a minimum of 1800 pixels on the longest side or about 2 megapixels (approximately 2 megabytes in file sizes. The sizes recommended are MINIMUM recommendations, the average full resolution digital photograph is about 12 megabytes in JPG format. Include the word "contest" in the subject line.
